In the following pages are the journals I kept during my travel overseas with the U.S. Air Force. The military was kind enough to send me to various assignments around the world for 10 years, and from those assignments, I tried to maximize the benefits of being in the locations I was in, and the proximity to other adventures nearby. Being in these differing and beautiful environments inspired me to expand my knowledge of photography, to capture and relay the amazing potential of leaving the comfort zone and life routines behind.

The journey (and journals) began in 1999, when my first posting outside the United States was to a small base in South Korea (Kunsan Air Base). This glimpse of something other than “the norm” opened my eyes and renewed energy for exploration. From there, I was fortunate to continue receiving assignments overseas another 6 times, traveling to England, Italy, Greenland, Iceland, and Germany, before returning again to Korea for my final military overseas tour.
